Calls for contracts of 12 temporary workers for Sligo County Council to be renewed

It's expected to become clear in the next two weeks if the contracts of 12 temporary outdoor workers taken on by Sligo County Council last April will be renewed or not.

Their contracts are up on March 18th and at this week's meeting of the council, Councillors called for the workers to be kept on.

Director of Services Tom Kilfeather told Councillors the council now had its funding allocations for 2017 from the Department and from Transport Infrastructure Ireland.

He said the roadworks programme was now being put together and part of this will include an assessment of the outdoor staff needed to deliver the programme.
