There are calls locally on the Government to sanction emergency funding for extra school buses.
It comes as a significant number of families in the North West are still waiting to hear if their children will have a place on a school bus this year.
There was a massive surge in demand for places after the Government announced it would waive school transport fees for the year.
A record 130 thousand applications for the scheme nationwide have been received with Sligo Sinn Fein Cllr Thomas Healy accusing the Transport Minister of not thinking the plan through properly:
