The Irish Government now has the chance to get rid of VAT on life-saving equipment like defibrillators.
It's after MEPs backed an overhaul of the VAT system across Europe allowing member states to have more flexibility to decide the rate applicable to some products.
Difibrillators currently attract a 23 per cent rate.
North West MEP Marian Harkin says the Irish goverment now has an opportunity to abolish that tax:
