Calls for greater powers for Sligo County Council to address Airbnb concerns

A former local and general election candidate has called on government to provide greater powers to Sligo County Council to clamp down on Airbnb.

An analysis carried out by Labour housing spokesperson Rebecca Moynihan found that 55 Airbnb houses were available to let in Sligo, with only 13 homes available to rent.

Nessa Cosgrove says Airbnb is removing properties from the market that could be used as family homes.

The Local Area Representative says Local authorities clearly aren't enforcing the rules around Airbnb.
