Calls for national approach to deal with dog thefts

A local councillor is raising concerns over dog thefts over recent months.

There has been a recent spate of dogs been taken from properties and owners in recent months.

There have been a number of similar reports across the country and Sligo Fianna Fail Councillor, Tom MacSharry, says he will be raising the issue with a Garda representative who is due to visit the area in September.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Councillor MacSharry says he will be calling for a nationwide programme to deal with the issue.
