Calls for presidential candidate to withdraw over remarks on Travellers

There have been widespread calls today for presidential candidate Peter Casey to withdraw from the election.

Mr Casey's controversial comments about what rights should be afforded to the travelling community has sparked a furious reaction.

Jamie Murphy, support worker with the Sligo Travellers Support Group, says that Peter Casey's remarks have caused members of the Traveller community quite a lot of distress and that his remarks provides evidence why hate crime legislation needs to be introduced in Ireland
