Some secondary schools throughout the region will have a change in their hours when they reopen at the end of this month after the summer holidays.
It's all part of a requirement from the Department of Education for the new Junior Cycle programme that calls for all classes to be at least 40 minutes in length.
Schools that already have classes 40 minutes or longer will not have to change their times.
However, schools where classes are less than 40 minutes will see the changes, with some having earlier starting times and early finishing times.
For example, school time in the Ursuline College in Sligo will be from 8:50am to 3:50pm, Monday to Thursday, with a Friday finish time of 1:05.
In Summerhill College in Sligo, the largest boys' school in the region, the times from Monday to Thursday will be 8:55am to 3:50pm and finishing on Friday at 1:15pm
For many parents, their concern has been over the earlier finishing times for students on Fridays.
But as Summerhill College principal Paul Keogh tells Ocean FM News, some schools, such as his, have already made plans to deal with this:
