A new Garda Chief Superintendent is expected to be appointed in Donegal within days.
Its understood Garda Headquarters are to confirm the appointment very soon.
Former Chief Superintendent Terry McGinn left the role in December 2022, and was replaced by Aidan Glackin, who is based in Sligo.
The imminent appointment will see Donegal have a locally-based Chief Superintendent for the first time in over a year.
