The Clean Coasts Programme visits Strandhill beach this afternoon. The event is part of Barefoot Wine's 'World Beach Rescue Day', a campaign which has supported over 14,000 volunteers since its launch 11 years ago.
The event is being held across Ireland for the first time and aims to create a fun atmosphere whilst also drawing attention to coastal issues such as marine letter and sand dune erosion.
The day's activities are free and they include beach yoga sessions, games, face-painting, sand sculpting, talks in the park and most importantly, a big beach clean up.
The event gets underway at Strandhill beach at 2pm.
