Community support essential in fight against organised crime, says Sligo/Leitrim chief superintendent

The chief superintendent of the Sligo/Leitrim Garda division has vowed that there will be no let-up in the force's battle against organised crime and drug dealing in the two counties and farther afield.

Chief Superintendent Aidan Glacken was speaking after a number of recent major drug seizures.

At the weekend, Gardai from the Sligo and Ballymote areas seized about €12,000 worth of suspected cocaine.

Gardai have declined to say where exactly the find was discovered other than that it was in County Sligo.
