Covid rates in counties Sligo and Leitrim per 100,000 population are now heading toward becoming among the highest in the country if the current trend continues.
Currently, there are about 50 cases in County Sligo and 50 in County Leitrim.
This compares to about 15 to 10 per day this time last year.
Leitrim has the highest 7-day rate in the country with a figure of 749 infections per 100,000 population. The figure for Sligo is 447 and 645 for Donegal.

Dr. Anthony Breslin, Director of Public Health, HSE North West, says attendance at social situations is among the factors driving the current situation.
