Construction of new helipad at Sligo University Hospital completed

Construction of a new helipad at Sligo University Hospital has been completed.

Test landings are currently being carried out by the Air Corps 112 helicopter and the Coastguard's Rescue 118, with it hoped to be fully operational later this month.

Those needing emergency care have previously been airlifted to Strandhill Airport and will now have swift and direct access to the hospital.

Fianna Fail Sligo Councillor, Rosaleen O'Grady, has previously highlighted the importance of such a service for the region.
