A Consultant in Emergency Medicine at Sligo University Hospital has described the current crisis at the facility as nothing like he's seen before.
A significant number of elderly people are currently on trolleys, some of them even sitting on a chair as there are simply not enough trolleys to go around.

Dr Mick Sweeney has been painting a picture of the situation on the ground and says Sligo in particular is suffering a severe shortage of beds.
