A Donegal TD has refused to be drawn on the ongoing controversy surrounding the probability of Independent TD Verona Murphy becoming Ceann Comhairle.
It comes as votes are being counted this afternoon in the race for the coveted position.

Many see Fianna Fail and Fine Gael's backing of Verona Murphy as being a gesture of good faith in government formation talks.
Donegal Fianna Fail TD Pat the Cope Gallagher previously held the Leas-Cheann Comhairle position from 2016 -2020.
