The cost of buying a house rose by 14% on average across the north west during 2021.
That's according to Daft.ie's end of year Report on activity in the housing sector with prices increasing by 11% in Sligo, 19.2% in Leitrim and 12.3% in Donegal.
The average price of a house in the region now stands at €169,000 compared to the national average of €291,000.
Co. Leitrim is the cheapest county in Ireland to buy a home where it costs on average of €158,000.

The northwest in general is the cheapest region in the country with a home costing €172,000 in Co. Sligo and €178,000 in Co. Donegal.
