Council urged to explore funding avenues for cycleway in Sligo

Sligo County Council is being urged to explore funding avenues with a view towards developing a cycle and walkway in west Sligo.

The route would be along the public road, connecting Ballisodare, Dunmoran Strand, Aughris Head, Trawee beach, Dromore West, Easkey, Rathlee, Enniscrone onto Ballina.

Local Independent Cllr Joe Queenan says the Wild Atlantic Way has been a huge success and this plan would complement the overall product.

Cllr Queenan acknowledged that it will be a challenge but it would have major benefits in the long run:
