A Donegal councillor is calling on Irish republicans and nationalists to boycott an event taking place in Dublin Castle next week commemorating the Royal Irish Constabulary.
The RIC was disbanded in 1922 after the Anglo-Irish Treaty.
It was replaced by An Garda Síochána in the Free State and the Royal Ulster Constabulary in Northern Ireland.
Bundoran-based Sinn Fein Councillor Michael McMahon says commemorating the likes of the RIC and the Black 'n' Tans, an armed auxiliary force of the RIC, is tantamount to treason.
