Councillor calls for grant increase for farmers due to rising material costs

The Cathaoirleach of Sligo Council is calling on the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Charlie McConalogue TD to provide an increase in farm grants as soaring material costs are reducing the value of grant aid to farmers.

Ballymote Tubbercurry Councillor, Dara Mulvey is also requesting the Department of Agriculture to publish revised reference costs for agricultural building work.

The Fine Gael Councillor says there have been Significant price increases for structural steel, cladding, timber and concrete.
