A Sligo councillor says work on developing a major multi-million euro route in Sligo is an ideal opportunity to improve safety at a dangerous junction in the town.
The proposed new Western Distributor Road, for which €11m has just been allocated, will cross the Strandhill Road, where there has been concern for some time about safety.
Fianna Fail Councillor Rosaleen O Grady is now calling for a portion of the €11m for the WDR to be ringfenced for work on the Strandhill Road junction.
She says it's a junction in a residential area that is going to become even more busy than it is at present:
