Sitting Councillor Thomas Walsh has confirmed that he will put his name forward to contest the next General Election at Fine Gael's selection convention for the Sligo-Leitrim constituency.
Councillor Walsh previously contested the 2020 General Election, receiving 4,760 first preference votes in the process.
He was first elected to the Sligo-Drumcliffe electoral area in 2019, before retaining his seat and topping the poll in June's edition with 1891 votes.
Councillor Walsh is the second confirmed candidate for the convention with sitting Deputy Frank Feighan looking to retain his seat while former TD John Perry not ruling it out.
It remains to be seen who else put their name forward.
