15 Million euro has been allocated for the construction of 62 social houses in the Maugheraboy area of Sligo town.
The development is now progressing to Stage Two, which is design stage.
Construction is expected to start within the next year.
Local Sinn Fein Councillor Chris McManus says that with over one thousand families in the region awaiting social housing, the news comes as a timely boost for the County Sligo.
