Local Authorities are being urged to start a process where skilled tradespeople are hired and retained by the respective County Councils across the region.
The Suggestion is being put forward by Manorhamilton Municipal Sinn Fein Councillor Padraig Fallon.
Cllr Fallon has a motion tabled for today's Municipal District meeting of the Manorhamilton Councillors requesting information on how the lack of trade's people is impacting the turn-around times of council owned housing in Leitrim.
Speaking to OceanFM News Cllr. Fallon says unless local Council's start hiring skilled trades people on a full time basis, the turnaround times will continue to increase and waiting lists for local authority owned housing will continue to grow.
