The Cremation service of the human rights activist Peter Pringle will take place later today. Mr Pringle is the father of the Donegal Independent TD Thomas Pringle TD.
Peter Pringle with an address in Connemara, and formerly from Killybegs, died peacefully on New Year’s Eve.

He was one of the last people to be sentenced to death in Ireland when he was wrongly convicted of killing two gardaí in a shoot-out in Ballaghaderreen, Co Roscommon in 1980.
He was released in 1995 after his convictions were deemed unsafe and quashed.

Peter Pringle’s cremation service will take place this afternoon.
