Criticism over CLAR funding for Donegal

A Donegal TD has accused the Government of discrimination against Donegal after the county was allocated less than one percent of the latest round of CLAR funding.

A total of €5 million of funding was available nationwide under the Safety Measures and Play Area Programme, with County Donegal receiving just €48,000.

Leitirm recieved €375,000 under the same programme while Sligo benefitted from a total of €275,000.

83 percent of County Donegal falls under CLAR areas and Fianna Fáil TD Pat The Cope Gallagher says that, with numerous applications submitted across the county, he cannot understands how Donegal received such a small amount of assistance.

He said it demonstrated how Donegal is forgotten and ignored by the Government.
