The Electric Ireland sponsored Darkness into Light, annual fundraising event organised by Pieta will take place in a number of locations across the north west tomorrow (Saturday)
This will be the first staging of the event which was curtailed during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Events will be staged in over 17 countries across 5 continents, beginning in darkness at sunrise and continuing through to dawn, symbolising the journey from despair to hope.
In 2021 alone, the 24/7 Pieta Helpline received almost 100,000 calls and texts and close to 2,000 crisis calls and texts each week.
Locally the Pieta Sligo outreach service provides services in Suicide Crisis Therapy counselling and Suicide Bereavement support services
