According to new statistics released by The Society of the Irish Motor Industry, sales of new electric cars has decreased in 2024 right across the Northwest when compared with the same period of last year.
Sligo saw 68 new EV registrations in the first five months of this year (a drop of 29 from 2023), Leitrim saw 26 (a drop in 10), and Donegal saw 129 (a drop in 51).
Meanwhile, there was an increase in general car sales so far this year in the three counties.
This reflects a nationwide trend of a lessened uptake of electric vehicles so far in 2024.
