Delay in rolling out home support services

It’s emerged that 160 people are waiting on Home Support Services across the north west.

There are 41 people in Sligo and Leitrim that have been approved, but have yet to receive any supports, while a further 119 are waiting in Co. Donegal.

Sligo/Leitrim Sinn Fein TD, Martin Kenny, says it appears the issue is not enough staff for the service who are themselves facing problems such as not having available cover for sick or annual leave.

Speaking to OceanFM News, Deputy Kenny says it shows the service is under stress and more people need to be recruited.
