Delays at Letterkenny Hospital's 'extremely busy' emergency department

The HSE says people attending the emergency department at Letterkenny University Hospital should expect delays.

The emergency department has been described this afternoon as 'extremely busy' with more than 20 people waiting to be admitted.

The HSE says all efforts are continuing to identify patients who can be discharged.

People should attend the Emergency Department only in cases of real emergencies and should first contact their GP.

Meanwhile, there are 14 people on trolleys today at Sligo University Hospital.
