A Donegal TD has described demonstrations expressing solidarity with refugees as 'timely'.
Local demonstrations took place over the weekend in Sligo and Letterkenny while it's estimated that tens of thousands took to the streets of Dublin.

The events were organised in response to some anti-migrant protests that have been held in recent weeks.
Speaking to Ocean FM News, Independent TD Thomas Pringle says while the vast majority of Irish people are supportive of refugees, its important to highlight that and to reassure those arriving here that they're welcome:
