Progress is being made on the Sligo Leitrim Northern Counties Railway Greenway as Leitrim County Council are to hire a Design Consultant for the next stage project.
€500,000 was recently allocated for the local authority from the Department of Transport to design and plan the section from Collooney to Blacklion.
Manorhamilton based Fine Gael Councillor, Sean McDermott says it's an ambitious project.
He tells OceanFM News the greenway could become the flagship tourism venture for the region.
