The government has confirmed that it plans to establish three new technological universities this year.

The new Munster Technological University officially came into operation recently.

Simon Harris, the Minister for Higher Education, has confirmed that three more similar facilities, including the Connacht Ulster Alliance that is a consortium of Sligo and Letterkenny Institutes of Technology and GMIT, are also at an advanced stage.
