Diabetes patients urged to contact GP, pharmacist or hospital team if they have concerns

The HSE has announced that diabetes services are resuming.

After the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, those in the diabetes community and healthcare providers helped people to self-mange their diabetes at home.

However, the HSE now says anyone with concerns should contact their GP or diabetes team in hospital.

Professor Sean Dinneen is consultant endocrinologist and clinical lead with the National Clinical Programme for Diabetes.

He says there had been an interruption in the delivery of non-Covid care, including routine diabetes care.

However, he says we have now reached a point where a renewed focus on the needs of people with diabetes is both timely and clinically necessary.
