Doherty 'deeply concerned' over border issue

A Donegal Sinn Fein TD says it's 'deeply concerning' to hear that the Revenue Commissioners have not sought Special Designated Status for Northern Ireland.

Deputy Pearse Doherty was speaking after a meeting of the Joint Oirechtas Committee on Finance which heard contributions from the Revenue Commissioners.

In answer to questions about plans to set up customs controls, Deputy Doherty says it's clear some forms of control along the border are being actively considered.

He says Revenue is expecting to set up customs checks within 10 to 15 kilometres of the border as well as roaming border controls.
