Donegal and Leitrim County Council have been shortlisted for awards at the Local Government Awards for 2024.
The shortlist has been published today by Chambers Ireland.
There are 15 different categories in this year's awards, reflecting the dedication and innovation taking place at local government level.
In total, Donegal County Council are shortlisted for six awards, while Leitrim County Council are nominated for one.
Donegal's nominations include the Energy Retrofit Programme in the Climate Change category, Sound! Soundtrack Film Festival for Festival of the Year, Model Beach Accessibility Programme in the Health and Wellbeing category, The Wonder of Weave, showcasing Irish and Scottish Tweed in the Heritage and Built Environment category, Food Coast Donegal for Promoting Economic Development, and the Harbour to Island regeneration project at Burtonport and Arranmore in the Supporting Sustainable Communities category.
Leitrim County Council's sole nomination also comes in the Promoting Economic Development category, for the acquisition and development of Carrick Business Campus.
One Local Authority will be awarded the overall award and named Local Authority of the Year 2024, when the awards take place on 21st November at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry.
