Donegal Councillor Ciaran Brogan has been elected chairperson of Regional Health Forum West.
He was elected at the first sitting of the forum since June's local elections on Tuesday afternoon.
Councillor Brogan was proposed for the role by Councillor Michael Collins and was seconded by Councillor Edel McSharry.
The Fianna Fáil Councillor has been a member of the forum since its establishment in 2005 and succeeds Galway's Donagh Killilea in the role.
The Regional Health Forum West covers the city councils of Limerick and Galway as well as Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Limerick, Mayo, North Tipperary, Roscommon and Sligo.county councils.
