Donegal County Council is appealing to communities not to celebrate Halloween by having bonfires.
In many areas throughout Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal, material is often stockpiled in preparation for Halloween bonfires.
But Suzanne Bogan, waste awareness officers with Donegal County Council, says burning is not only illegal, it's also bad for the environment.
