Donegal Independent Councillor John Campbell has resigned from the council.
Seamus Maguire, from Donegal Town, is expected to be co-opted in his place.
Cllr Campbell was co-opted to replace Thomas Pringle when he became a TD and won the seat when he ran in 2014.
In a statement released today, Cllr Campbell says he feels the work needed to field a number of independent candidates in next Mays local elections will require his full time commitment.

Cllr Campbell has been outlining to Ocean FM some of the reasons behind his decision step down from the council.
