Donegal County Museum thank finders of pre-historic gold

Donegal County Museum thank finders of pre-historic gold

Donegal County Museum is thanking the finders of priceless gold artefacts found in the east of the county this week.

A significant find of pre-historic gold was found by a farm digging a drain in the east of the county.

It includes four solid pieces of gold which the county museum in Donegal believes could date back to the Bronze Age.

The artefacts have now been sent to the National Museum of Ireland for analysis to see how and when the gold was deposited in this area.

Caroline Carr, Assistant Curator with Donegal County Museum says they are extremely grateful that the artefacts were handed in by the gentleman who found them.
