Donegal fishermen to take part in Dublin protest

Donegal fishermen to take part in Dublin protest

Fishing vessels from Donegal and all over the Country will sail up the Liffey this morning to join a large protest in Dublin city.

 

Fishing organisations from across the country say their sector is in crisis and will gather outside the Dáil.

Among their complaints is a 15 %drop in quota due to Brexit - the highest fall for any EU state.

 

A rally supported by protestors from all sectors of the fishing industry will be held at the Spencer Dock, beside the National Convention Centre, where the Dáil will be sitting.

Sean O’ Donoghue, of the Killybegs Fishermen's Organisation, says fishing representatives will hand-deliver a letter outlining the plight of the industry to the Taoiseach.
