Donegal Gardaí deploy 'stinger' to stop drunk driver travelling 170km/h on wrong side of the road

The Gardaí needed to deploy a 'stinger' device to stop a drunk driver in Donegal this morning.

A 'stinger' is a device used to puncture the tyres of cars that refuse to stop by throwing a strip on the road with spikes attached that pierce the tyres.

Garda units from Letterkenny and Buncrana worked together to bring the drunk driver to a stop that got up to speeds of 170km/h on the wrong side of the road.

The driver is also reported to have driven the wrong way around Dry Arch roundabout in Letterkenny.
