Late night entertainment returns today, with venues allowed operate at full capacity when they reopen tonight.

Nightclubs are back and pubs and restaurants no longer have to close at half 11.

The new government guidelines also allow up to 1,500 people stand at indoor gigs and people can get a drink at the bar while staying 2 metres apart.

People still can't drink at the bar counter under new rules that take effect today.

They'll be able to order a drink at the bar, but must return to their seats with it.

The 11.30 closing time has been scrapped, but Padraig Cribben, from the Vintners Federation of Ireland, has given a mixed reaction to the new guidelines.

Donegal musician Matt McGranahan, who is spokesman for the Music and Entertainment Association, says the news up to 1,500 people can stand at indoor gigs is very welcome.
