Donegal has been named number one on National Geographic's Cool list for 2017.
The magazine's traveller section creates the list every year and includes culture capitals, wild escapes and hipster hotspots.
They describe Donegal as having a “weather nibbled coast spotted with sea stacks, blue flag beaches and offshore islands”.
They also mention that scenes for the upcoming Star Wars Episode 8 were filmed on the Inishowen peninsula.

The Irish county beat other spots including Santiago in Chile, Helsinki and New Zealand to top spot.
