Donegal TD calls for windfalls taxes after ESB report latest profits

A Donegal TD says news of the ESB’s profit margin for the first half of 2022 will be stomach churning for people that have to choose between food, fuel or energy.

The ESB Group's reported a profit after tax of 390 million euro for the first half of the year.

This represents an increase of 128 million euro for the same period last year.

The company says the overall result provides the basis for continued strong investment in energy infrastructure.

Donegal TD Padraig MacLochlainn says this is further evidence why the so called windfalls taxes need to be introduced.
