Donegal TD makes further calls for reintroduction of mortgage interest relief

A Donegal TD has made further calls on the Government to reintroduce mortgage interest relief for homeowners.

It comes as mortgage holders are seeing a large rise in their interest costs as a result of interest rate hikes by the ECB.

It means that borrowers in the likes of Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal will be paying thousands of euros more in interest this year and others are likely to see their interest rates increase in the coming period.

Speaking in the Dail this afternoon, Deputy Pearse Doherty pleaded with the Housing Minister to consider the move:
