Donegal TD urges Government to introduce tax on derelict homes & Airbnbs

There are further calls on the Government to introduce a significant tax on all derelict homes and Airbnbs, similar to what Portugal has planning to have in place.

Under the new plans there, all unoccupied houses will be forced onto the market at affordable prices and there will be no new licences given to Airbnbs or holiday rentals, except in less populated, rural areas.

Speaking under a motion on Housing and Evictions, Independent TD for Donegal Thomas Pringle believes that this could work well here.

However he doesn't hold out much hope in the Government considering the proposals:
