Donegal's beaches will be a major asset in battle for domestic tourism

The recent  announcement of Blue Flags and Green Coast Awards for 2020 have been described as a major tourism boost for Donegal in the battle to attract the domestic tourist as Ireland exits the Covid-19 pandemic.

 

 

The North West County secured the most Blue Flags in Ireland with 12 beaches and 2 marinas securing blue flags.

Beaches at Bundoran, Rossnowlagh, Fintra and Meravagh have received blue flags.

 

Independent Donegal MD councillor Niamh Kennedy says having so many top class beaches in Donegal will help attract a large number of domestic tourists.

Donegal Municipal District Councillor  Mick McMahon says the news that Bundoran has regained it’s  Blue flag status is a fitting reward for the work for the several community groups and individuals that have worked on the
