Driving tests: 2021 before inroads into backlog

With almost 2,000 people in the north west waiting for driving tests, the Road Safety Authority says it will be 2021 before inroads can be made into the backlog.

There's currently a waiting list of 50,000, and people who apply now are likely to wait up to 30 weeks for an appointment.

498 people are waiting for a driving test at the Sligo Town Centre, 398 in Donegal Town, 697 in Letterkenny and a further 361 in Carrick on Shannon.

Under Level 5 restrictions, tests are only available to essential workers.
