The Garda Divisional Drugs Unit in Sligo, as part of a planned operation, have seized various types of suspected controlled drugs during a search in the Sligo Town area.
Among those seized is a quantity of suspected Ecstasy tablets. While the drugs seized as part of this operation are pending analysis, similar tablets seized previously were found to contain much higher levels of MDMA, in some cases up to three times the amount of others examined.
Gardai in Sligo want to remind the public that the possession, sale or supply of controlled drugs is illegal and the taking of any controlled drugs always poses a serious health risk; however the tablets seized as part of this operation, if analysis proves correct, may pose a significantly higher risk and all are urged to be extremely vigilant and to not take these tablets.
