The Minister of State with responsibility for flooding has confirmed that €50,000 is available for drainage work on the Owenmore River.
The money has been allocated to Sligo County Council for work in the Owenmore Drainage District.
However, it will not cover work farther downstream to prevent flooding in the Collooney and Ballisodare areas.
A meeting of Sligo County Council heard that, at this stage of the year, drainage maintenance work will not likely start until spring of next year.
