Edel McSharry has been elected to Sligo County Council for the very first time.
The Fianna Fáil candidate's total of x after the third and final count in the Sligo-Drumcliffe electoral area exceeded the quota of 1551.
Much controversy surrounded McSharry's selection for the election as she was selected by local party members in October's convention ahead of then, sitting councillor Gilroy.
Gilroy was later selected by the party, however to contest the local elections.
